On the crisp afternoon of December 7th, members of High River Bike Park Society had gathered in the lobby of one of High River’s most beloved buildings, the Wales Theatre. There was nervous anticipation amongst us all as we were about to open the doors to our first official pump track fundraiser. Our society along with Syed Kidwai, the owner of the Wales Theatre had worked together to plan this family-friendly movie, showing the latest Grinch. We were indeed nervous but we were ready, the popcorn was popped, candy bags were filled and prizes ready to be won. A steady stream of children, parents and grandparents flowed through the doors; many had cozied up in their favourite Christmas pyjamas in hopes of winning a special prize. We saw families laughing and enjoying spending time with their loved ones, which is what our committee had hoped for in the planning of this fundraiser. Our team left the theatre that day with our hearts filled and money in the bank to put towards a project near and dear to us all.

The society is so grateful for Syed Kidwai for graciously donating his theatre, time and energy to help make this fundraiser a success!

Additionally, we would also like to extend our appreciation towards
Highwood Printing for printing our tickets
Andrew and Jessica’s No Frills for their candy donation,
High River Sobeys for their pop donation and local artist Christi Tims for her Grinch Christmas tree decorations.

Also a thank you to:
Lutes Timber Mart, Pixie Hollow, The Hub and Holy Spirit Academy for promoting this event as well as selling tickets.

We are so thankful for the community support from businesses and residents; we are one step closer to getting the pump track built!
